A loctician is a trained professional who specializes in the care, maintenance, and styling of locs. They work with clients at various stages of their loc journey, from starting locs to maintaining them over time. Locticians are skilled in techniques such as palm rolling, interlocking and loc repair. Their expertise ensures that locs remain healthy, clean, and styled to the client’s preference, regardless of hair texture or type.
I offer loc installing, cleansing, maintenance and styling. I specialize in traditional palm rolling and interlocking, starter locs, short loc styles, and very long loc styles.

You can schedule online 1 day to 2 weeks before the appointment date. Which means if today is April 1st, you can schedule for tomorrow April 2nd up to April 14th. Same day appointments may be available but must be inquired and scheduled by phone by calling Queen at 313-334-1033. There is a same day booking fee of $20 and the slots are only available if time permits on Queen’s schedule.
A cancellation is always noted on the schedule. Canceling at least 24 hours before the scheduled appointment is necessary so that Queen can fill the appointment slot as needed. Failure to cancel at least 24 hours ahead can result in losing your deposit or payment for consultation. Failure to cancel at all or “no call, no show” can result in removing you from the schedule and the clientele list which will prevent you from making future appointments.

Being more than 15 minutes can potentially set back the entire scheduled day. If each client is 30 minutes late, someone on the schedule may not get serviced, it makes my work day strenuous and it may take away my ability to schedule a lunch break. Being on time is courteous and important for me and the rest of the scheduled clients. However, i do understand that things happen so i have a 15 minute grace period. After 15 minutes you may be charged $20 for setting back the schedule. After 30 mins you will be removed from the schedule and will need to reschedule your appointment online.

Come as you are. If you have bad dandruff, it is wise to wash at least 1 week before your loc appointment.
Only before your starter loc installation. This will be discussed during your starter loc consultation.
Yes. Using the products you bring will be at the discretion of your loctician unless prescribed by a doctor. I will always encourage using your medicated prescription shampoos and other hair care products.

Yes I do. Pricing for children is the same as the pricing for adults.
Yes, i use traditional natural methods to repair locs without using fake hair. A consultation is needed to determine if i am able to repair your loc/s.

Yes I do. Bring in photos of your loc style inspiration and we will recreate it for you or get as close to it as we can.
At-home care starts with keeping your locs clean, moisturized, and protected. Regularly cleanse your scalp, hydrate with water and oil, cover/protect your locs with a satin or silk scarf, loc sock, or bonnet. Avoid excessive manipulation to maintain healthy locs.
Use a mixture of water and a lightweight natural oil (like argan or jojoba). Mist lightly, focusing on the length of the locs, and seal with a moderate amount of oil to maintain softness and shine. Keep your scalp hydrated with natural oils, such as avocado or jojoba oil. Gently massage your scalp to promote blood flow and avoid using heavy products that clog pores. For those with starter locs, oiling the scalp and rubbing it into the loc shaft without water should be sufficient but check with your loctician for a moisturizing plan that fits you and your new starter locs.

Avoid natural oils that solidify like coconut oil, shea butter or bees wax. These oils clog pores and causes excessive buildup.

Washing every 2-3 weeks works well for most people, but it depends on your scalp’s needs and lifestyle. Washing your hair at home is very important for mature locs. For those with starter locs please wait to see your loctician for a loc wash instead of washing them on your own which could cause matting or washing out your parts.

As often as needed. Oil your locs If they look and feel dry and you dont see or feel oil on your fingertips after rubbing and squeezing your loc shaft. However, pouring oil on top of bad dandruff will not make the dandruff go away. Please see a dermatologist for frequent, consistent large flake dandruff
Frizz is natural and part of the loc process. You can manage it by using a light oil or alcohol-free styling gel, maintaining a regular retwisting schedule, and sleeping with a satin or silk scarf.
Satin or silk coverings are ideal as they reduce friction and help your locs retain moisture. Avoid cotton or wool, which can cause dryness and lint.
Buildup comes from product residue or environmental debris. A clarifying shampoo, a hot wash detox or apple cider vinegar detox can remove buildup effectively.
Separate your locs after washing and ensure they are retwisted regularly. This will help prevent locs from joining at the roots.
